The location of Duwisib Castle is such that travelers heading north may have time to visit Duwisib Castle on their way to Sossusvlei, especially if they have stayed overnight nearby. A picnic site is available for day visitors to Duwisib Castle to enjoy a snack or lunch before continuing on their journey. Make sure you leave plenty of time (at least 4 hours) to complete your journey to Sossusvlei before sunset though especially if your accommodation is inside the park since the park gates close at sunset, and with so many animals using the wide roads as game paths at night it is dangerous to be driving at night.
If you really want to get a feel for what it must have been like for Baron van Wolf and his wife to live in this remote location however then an overnight stay in one of the castle rooms or in the nearby campsite is recommended.
While staying at Duwisib Castle you can enjoy a drink at the Barons bar, and delicious meals in the restaurant cooked to order by the friendly staff. Enjoying a meal in the courtyard of Duwisib Castle is a special experience.
For guests who prefer to arrive by private plane rather than journey through the desert there is an airstrip nearby to Duwisib Castle.
