Through the years Mile 108 has changed from just a patch of sand on the beach to offer a little more but it is still quite a basic camp. Mile 108 has a selection of camping sites to choose from and 5 simple cabins.
In all the camping sites water is heated by a donkey and the whole of Mile 108 is run on solar power – there are no plugs at any of the camping sites or huts.
Beach camping at Mile 108
First and the most numerous are the simple space along the beach camping sites marked out with a line of stones each one has an area on the ground to braai and they share communal ablutions offering shared toilets and showers
Self contained camping at Mile 108
Next are the self contained camping sites, the camping area is the same as the first ones being just a large area with a braai area marked out along the beach but each camping site has its own private ablutions behind the campsite which is for exclusive use to that camping site.

The final camping option are the 5 independent camping sites along the beach front. Each one has its own private braai area, toilet, shower, wash basin and light on its camping site.
Fishermans Cabins at Mile 108
Then there is now a non camping option at Mile 108 there are 4 simple fishermans huts at the south end of the camping site overlooking the beach. Each hut has a braai area and a wind break outside and inside a room to store gear and a sink, then a small room with two beds in (bedding is NOT provided please bring your own) then there is a bathroom with a toilet wash basin and shower, don’t get too excited these are very simple basic structures but do give you your own space and shelter from the Skeleton Coast wind!
