At the reception area there is cell phone signal and patchy wifi available
this only works at the reception area. there is also a very basic shop
in the reception area with snacks, water, sodas, juice and beer.
For storing fish there are 3 communal freezers in the reception area they
are not locked so label your food and it’s a first come first stored
principle!
Fishing at Mile 108
This is the main reason to visit Mile 108, its not a holiday resort it is a fishing camp on the Skeleton Coast beach and offers some of the wildest beach fishing you will ever experience.
Bring all your gear with you, there is no shop selling angling gear nor a place to buy your fishing permit, you need to get that at the maritime office in Swakopmund.
Experience Skeleton Coast at Mile 108
As either a stopover travelling north or south along the coast Mile 108 offers a convenient place to spend the night while exploring the desolate wildness of the Skeleton coast, but come prepared, there is no restaurant and very few supplies so be prepared to be self sufficient as you camp in one of the wildest spots in Namibia.
Be prepared for wind, there is almost a constant wind along the coast either blowing off the sea (cool damp and salty) or off the desert (hot and sandy) so make sure you are ready to peg that tent down securely and dont expect to hang the laundry out!
Birding and wildlife at Mile 108
Not really a reason to especially visit Mile 108 there are some opportunities for rare sightings of some birds and wildlife such as the shy Brown Hyena that can sometimes be spotted scavenging along the beach
