Palmwag is a veterinary control point and the entrance to the tourism concession is not far from the campsite. The concession holders offer many activities to partake in to experience the beauty of northern Damaraland and see the wildlife wandering freely through the open spaces.

Guided Sundowner Drive at Palmwag Camping Damaraland Namibia
Palmwag Concession collaborates with its neighbouring conservancies to protect the abundance of wildlife, including the scarce black rhino. On these guided drives, you’ll learn more about the survival of these desert animals and the Ministry of Environment and Tourism and the Save the Rhino Trust’s projects to protect them for extinction.
Self-drive Exploration of Concession at Palmwag Camping Damaraland Namibia
As you drive through the of endless basalt landscape that was created by massive magma eruptions around 125 million years ago, when Africa and South America existed as the land mass of Gondwana, look out for rare aloes and poisonous euphorbias, as well as the shy desert elephants and rare desert adapted black rhino.
The necessary permit can be obtained at the entrance gate north of the
campsite or from the reception at the lodge. You will receive an information
sheet with a map and rules, and you have to sign for compliance with the
regulations of the Palmwag Concession.
